How to Choose a Massage Course

  1. Step 1

Assess what's affordable. Massage schools can cost all the way up to $30,000 to get certified. Couples massage classes can cost a few hundred per session. Deciding on a final goal and the cost to get there is important.

  2. Step 2

Apply for Government Financial Aid. The quickest way to find legitimate programs and weed out possibly seedy operations, see if the school can provide government grants. Schools have to meet a certain level of excellency and expectations before the government will give the school attendees aid. This is a sure fire way to pick a great program.

  3. Step 3

Visit the school. Most programs will allow visits. This is also a great time to sit down with school advisors and ask any questions about what is taught, and what to do with a certification in massage therapy.

  4. Step 4

Have a massage at the school. Massage students must perform a certain amount of clinical hours on the public before certification.

Tips & Warnings
  • Massage styles vary from school to school. Some schools focus more on energy/spiritual healing, while others focus more on the physical method and anatomy of massage. The latter will provide more experience for the work field.
