Instructions

    • 1

Double-click on the "Printmaster" (Platinum) icon found either in your start menu or on your computer desktop. This icon looks much like a star with a crown. Note: it may take a few minutes to load on your screen and fully open. The "home" page will appear with as well as a box with a tip in it.

    • 2

Click on the project you would like to complete. If you do not wish to come up with your own design and sentiment, it would be best to click on "Personalize Ready Made Project." Wait for the page to load on your screen.

    • 3

Click on the menu on the left hand side of the screen titled "Select type of project" and then go to the drop down list below. To make a card, you will either choose "cards, half-fold" or "cards, quarter fold," depending on the occasion and the type of card stock you have available.

    • 4

Click on the drop down box on the left side of your screen and choose the "Project Category" from the large list. Categories appear in alphabetical order. Then select the occasion and who it is for. Those selections will expand out to the right of your screen.

    • 5

Look at the card choices that appear on your screen. Double-click on one you would like to read further or create.

    • 6

Change or type over text as needed. Note: You can also change the font and color or style of the typeface.

    • 7

Click on the arrow at the bottom of your screen until it says "back" to get to the last page and type your name under "especially made for you by"

    • 8

Insert any personal photos by selecting "add, graphic, from disk." Search the computer file folder that holds your pictures. Usually this is "My pictures" or pictures. Keep repeating this as you add more photos.

    • 9

Crop your photos or graphics as needed by clicking and dragging the corners diagonally until it is the desired size. Dragging them across will cause distortion.

    • 10

Print out your card on plain paper first, especially if you are doing a half-fold card, as these are more tricky.

    • 11

Inspect, sign, personalize and fold your card and place in envelope.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are different Printmaster versions available, as well as upgrades and Internet enhancements.

  • You can create a wide variety of projects with this software, not exclusively cards.

  • Make lots of cards at once so you have them ready when you need them.

  • You will need Art Disks or to go online if you are downloading an image. Printmaster prompts you when this occurs.

Thanks for the write :) I love greeting card software. It saves so much money and time going to the card shop when you can personalize it yourself :) I like to add extra stickers and stamps to mine too as I like to scrapbook--so these materials are always on hand...Thanks for the article.
