Step 1
INGREDIENTS:
6 large russett potatoes - peeled, grated, and drained
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
Flour - just enough to thicken -
Step 2
Place potatoes, egg and salt in a mixing bowl. Add just enough flour to make a thick batter.

Step 3
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt solid shortening to measure 1" deep. Drop batter into hot oil. Brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels before serving.
