Step 1
Make a list of the 66 books of the Bible. You will find the books listed in order at the front of most Bibles. When searching scriptures, it helps to know where the books are located. After you have made your, list you might want to memorize the order. When searching through different scriptures, it isn't much fun when half the time is spent locating the right book.

Step 2
Either using the concordance at the back of the Bible or a larger one found in most Bible bookstores, look up the word of the subject you are interested in. For instance, take the word "prayer." In the concordance, the word prayer is typically listed as pray, prayed and praying. There will be numerous scripture references where this word is located. Scan the scriptures and choose the one you want.

Step 3
Find the scripture in the appropriate book. After you have read the scripture, use the scripture footnotes and margin notes to find other scriptures referring to the same topic. In the margin next to the verse which reads, "Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus," Acts 4:30, there is a note which reads, "4:30, ver 27." This tells the reader that verse 27 contains similar information. Following the margin and footnotes will lead you on a fabulous topic study.

Step 4
Perform a scripture search using the Internet. Type the word or phrase you are searching for into the search box. Include the word "Bible," and you should receive pages of related scriptures.
