Things You'll Need:
- A Bible
-
Step 1
Memorize important scripture relevant to the Christian's life, so if faced with an emergency situation the Christian will be ready to pray God's Word. Proverbs 4:20-22 says, "Pay attention to my Words, do not let them out of your sight, keep them in your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to a mans whole flesh." In order to pray scriptures, the Christian has to know them.
-
Step 2
Find the scripture appropriate to a Christian's situation by looking up relevant words in the concordance. Each word located in the Bible is listed in the index next to the scripture references where the word is found. For instance, if a child is suffering from an ear infection look up the word healing. Find and pray this scripture; Acts 10:38, "how God annointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil."
-
Step 3
Pray scripture to God as if having a conversation with Him. The Bible is God's way of communicating: It's His Word. Quoting scripture is a spiritual language that God understands.
-
Step 4
Pray with faith believing that God does hear. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. It is hearing God's Word that increases faith. What better way to increase faith and to please God than by repeating the scriptures.

on 1/7/2009 hi my name is Frieda, i am concerned about number3. Pray scripture to God as if having a conversation with Him. The Bible is God's way of communicating: It's His Word. Quoting scripture is a spiritual language that God understands. The last portion about scriptures being a spiritual language that God understands does not sound right to me. Does that imply that if l didnt know the scriptures and l poured out my heart to God like ?Hannah did God would not understand what l say outside scriputure?
