How to Make a Caprese Salad Sandwich

A Caprese salad sandwich is a tasty veggie sandwich that few know about. The sandwich is like Italy on sourdough bread. With the freshest mozzarella and basil leaves, this sandwich can become a savory lunch that no one will forget.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 ounces of fresh salted mozzarella cheese
  • salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 8 slices of good sourdough bread
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 handful of fresh basil leaves
  • 1 stove top grill pan

    Making the Caprese Salad Sandwich

  1. Step 1

    Heat up your grill with the stove top pan on top of the grill.

  2. Step 2

    Slice the cheese about 1/3 inch thick.

  3. Step 3

    Add salt and black pepper to the cheese slices.

  4. Step 4

    Slice the tomatoes about 1/3 inch thick.

  5. Step 5

    Add salt and black pepper to the tomato slices.

  6. Step 6

    Grill the slices of sourdough bread.

  7. Step 7

    Smash and peel the garlic.

  8. Step 8

    Rub the sides of the sourdough bread with garlic.

  9. Step 9

    Drizzle the olive oil on the bread.

  10. Step 10

    Tear the basil leaves.

  11. Step 11

    Layer the cheese, basil, and tomatoes on the sourdough bread.

  12. Step 12

    Put the other half of the sourdough bread on top.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take the mozzarella out of the water it came in, wrap it in plastic, and store it in the fridge
