Will I ever be happy again? Will I survive this? Can I move on? By now you've probably asked yourself these and other questions, and the answer is yes. There is life after the end of a marriage and you can move on after a divorce.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Give yourself time to heal. There are a lot of deep wounds that accompany a divorce, and it's going to take time to get over the emotional sting. You don't have to be fine right away.At the same time, in the words of Dr. Phil, "Don't burn daylight" and "Don't waste time with regret." He points out that while grieving doesn't have a time frame, life does, so you have to find a way to put one foot in front of the other and move forward.

  2. Step 2

Surround yourself with supportive people. It always helps to have someone or several people to talk to.They can be a great source of strength, so make use of them.

  3. Step 3

Broaden your horizons and try something new. Has there always been something you want to try? Now is the time to get out and do that. The goal is to find out what makes you excited about life and what makes you want to be a better you.

  4. Step 4

Take the focus off yourself by helping others. Helping others gives you a mental break from your own problems, and it has the added side effect of making you feel better.

  5. Step 5

Get out, socialize and build new relationships. This doesn't mean you have to start dating again, just start being social. Suggestions include joining a singles club, hosting a potluck dinner or attending a charity event. The goal is to find something enjoyable to do with people you enjoy being around.
