Things You'll Need:
- Cardstock cards
- Printable vellum paper
- Patterned Vellum paper
- Other decorative paper
- Cut out image or photograph
- Utility knife
- Cutting board
- Scissors
- Stamps
- Tiny ribbons or buttons
-
Step 1
Purchase the materials from the materials list for a homemade Valentines Day card. Find the materials at a local craft and hobby store. Most of these materials come in multiple packs, which can be used to make cards for other occasions in the future.
-
Step 2
Take a cardstock card and cut a window into the front cover of the card. Use a pencil and ruler to make the shape if you are making a square window. For Valentines Day, draw a heart shaped window free hand. Use a utility knife and a cutting board to make a clean cut with no jagged edges.
-
Step 3
Glue the image or photograph into place facing out in front of the window.
-
Step 4
Glue a decorative sheet of patterned paper the size of the card inside. Fold it in the middle and have it cover both inside pages. Make it slightly smaller than the card so some of the card stock can be seen.
-
Step 5
Print a message onto a sheet of printable vellum paper and cut it down to size. Vellum paper is a transparent paper that is great for layering and adding messages to cards. Attach the vellum to the inside left page of the card on top of the decorative paper, allowing the pattern to show through. Glue a tiny ribbon or decorative button to the top of that page.
-
Step 6
Write a hand-written note on the inside card and embellish the note with stamps or other decorative items.

on 1/13/2009 Cool Idea! I always add a pack of TickleMe Plant seeds to my Valentines Day Cards. The TickleMe Plant is that REAL plant that MOVES when you Tickle It! The leaves quickly fold and even the branches droop when Tickled. Sharing your love of nature is a great way to Tickle a love ones heart. I found it at http://www.ticklemeplant.com
