    Tossing Pizza Dough

  1. Step 1

Prepare your favorite recipe for pizza dough. It must be a yeasty, smooth dough that stretches nicely.

  2. Step 2

Measure and set aside the toppings for your pizza recipe while your dough is rising. When you're done tossing pizza dough you'll need to have easy access to the rest of the pizza recipe ingredients.

  3. Step 3

Allow the dough ball to rise according to the pizza dough recipe.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle cornmeal or flour onto your pizza peel. A pizza peel is a wooden or aluminum paddle designed as a surface for pizza preparation that allows for easily transferring the pizza to and from the cooking stone.

  5. Step 5

Press the edges of your dough ball together and pull out slightly until it's flatter.

  6. Step 6

Begin tossing pizza dough by spinning the dough as you throw it in the air. Spinning is the key. The harder you spin the dough the faster your circle will spread out and grow.
