To teach a child to love his siblings starts from the moment he is aware that you are pregnant. But how do you teach a child to love his siblings? It is easier than you think. With a few steps continuously performed your child will learn to love his siblings.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Teaching a Child To Love His Siblings

  1. Step 1

Tell your child while you are pregnant that the baby loves him. Tell him that the sibling will play with him one day and he will have another friend. Keep reiterating this daily. This will build excitement in the child that the sibling wants to be with him and vice versa.

  2. Step 2

Bring a gift home from the hospital to give to your child. Let your child know that the sibling gave it to him and that he loves him. Tell your child that someday his sibling will play with him with that gift and to take extra special care of it.

  3. Step 3

Treat the child special when the new sibling comes home from the hospital. A baby usually gets all the attention and rightly so. Babies need extra special attention and care. Make sure that while you are daunting over the new sibling that you also daunt over the child. Give him attention also so he doesn’t get jealous over the new sibling.

  4. Step 4

Tell the child that the sibling loves him as he grows and also tell the sibling that the child loves him. Fostering love between them by verbally speaking it will help create and keep that sibling love.

  5. Step 5

Create love between the child and the sibling by letting them know that they are there for each other and that when everyone else fails them in life they will have each other. Even at times of sibling rivalry you can reel them back in to that sibling love by telling them that they love each other and they shouldn’t treat each other that way.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fights will happen eventually, let the siblings work it out and only intervene when there is physical violence.
  • Create special moments for the siblings so they share great memories together.
