Virtually everyone knows the song "Doo Run Run." You know, "Met him on a Monday and his name was Bill! Da Doo Run Run Run Da Doo Run Run!" But, did you know that it can also be played as an improv game? You don't need a great singing voice, just the ability to keep the beat. Make it fun by having the audience choose their favorite player and cheer for them. When the improv troupe Gagged and Bound pioneered this game in Alaska, they even had a leader board with pictures of the players, keeping track of how many times they won the game.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • At least four players
  • One host (can be a player)

Playing the Doo Run Run Improv Game

  1. Step 1

The host introduces all of the players playing the game, including him or herself if he or she is playing.

  2. Step 2

All players stand in a line.

  3. Step 3

The host solicits a one syllable first name from the audience.

  4. Step 4

The first player in line starts the song by singing the actual first line of the song, only replacing "Bill" with whatever name the host solicited from the audience.

  5. Step 5

All players sing, "Da Doo Run Run Run, Da Doo Run Run."

  6. Step 6

The next player in line sings a line that ends with a word that rhymes with the name.

  7. Step 7

All players sing, "Da Doo Run Run Run, Da Doo Run Run! Da Doo Doo Doot, Yeah!"

  8. Step 8

The next player in line sings the next three lines with the last word of each line rhyming with the name. Between each line, all players sing, "Da Doo Doo Doot, Yeah!"

  9. Step 9

When a player can't rhyme the name or uses a rhyming word that was already used by another player, they are out and the game starts over from step three until one player is left.
