How to Burn CD's with iTunes

There are a variety of computer programs that can be used to upload or download music, create play lists, or make copies of your favorite CD’s. iTunes is one of these programs. It is relatively easy to use, and once you become familiar with the program, you’ll be burning CD’s for everyone you know. CD’s are also a great gift to give – at any time of the year and for any occasion. Follow the steps below to burn your new CD using iTunes.

      Open the iTunes program on your computer by double clicking on the icon. When the iTunes window opens up, insert the disc you would like to burn into the computer’s disc drive. After a moment, the contents of the CD will appear on your screen, listed to the right of “Audio CD”.

      Import the contents of the CD by clicking on “import”, in the top right-hand corner of the iTunes program. It will now say, “importing”. You can see the progress as your individual songs are imported; when the small dot next to the song is green, this indicates it has been successfully imported.

      Find your songs. Your CD has been imported into the iTunes library. Click on “library” in the column of choices on the left and scroll down until you see the contents of your CD. Next, go to “File”, and select “New Play list”, then type in the name of your CD.

      Highlight your songs and drag them into the new play list you have just named. Click on this list to view the new CD you will be burning.

      Remove your CD from the drive and insert the blank disk. After the disc is inserted, the top right corner will have a “burn disc” option, where before it read “import”. Burn your new CD with iTunes by clicking on “burn disc”. When the program has finished, remove your CD from the computer and label it accordingly. You have successfully used iTunes to burn a new CD!
