How to Decorate a Room with a Super Mario Bros Theme

Super Mario Bros. is one of the most popular video games of all times and has spawned many sequels and spin-offs to keep the game and the character of Mario popular. To help showcase your fandom of the game, you can decorate a room in your house dedicated to the world of Super Mario Bros.

Things You'll Need

  • Paint
  • Boxes
  • Stuffed Animals
  • Walls: Paint your walls with a Sky blue base. You may only want to paint it 2/3 of the way down to add in other things, but painting the whole wall with that base blue will make it a lot easier.

  • Use a dark green to paint a one foot base at the bottom of the walls. You are basically recreating a level in Super Mario Bros. so this base will represent the ground that Mario walks on.

  • Add in several brick designs. These can be actual designs that you have created on your own or based off of levels. Many video game websites provide users with pictures of levels that you can base your painting off of.

  • Surround the bricks with paintings of gold square blocks. These are the famed blocks that contain coins or other valuables in the Super Mario games.

  • Once the paint has dried, use a yellow or white paint to add a question mark to the middle of the boxes.

  • Paint various coins throughout the wall. Usually these coins are featured in mid-air or above bricks.

  • Add in some of Mario’s villains like the turtles or mushrooms.

  • Paint Mario anywhere on the wall. He could be jumping in mid-air, standing on bricks, or doing anything else that represents action seen in the game.

  • Once you have finished the walls, a huge part of the room is completed. Adding more touches will only show Mario appreciation even more.

  • Gather together three to four small storage boxes. Spray paint the boxes gold and draw large question marks on them. They are great use of storage and showcase a fun part of the Super Mario game.

  • Purchase a large cylinder trash can and spray paint it gold. Add a replica venus fly trap plant to the lid of the trashcan and you have recreated the famous pipes found in the game.

  • Hook up or a display an original Nintendo system. This is the first time Mario appeared in video game form and the system and game remain popular today.
