How to Sew a Cell Phone Sling

If you have a sewing machine, this project can be completed in about 30 minutes. Hand sewing will take a little longer, but it's still a quick and fun craft.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Fabric scrap, about 4" x 6"
  • 2 Pieces ribbon trim, 8" and 20"
  • Dressmaking pins
  • Eyelash yarn for embellishment
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread

    How to Make a Cell Phone Sling

  1. Step 1

    Lay fabric scrap, right side down, on work table. Fold up from bottom and measure a square about 3" by 4". This will be your finished size. Pin sides and bottom.

  2. Step 2

    Hand or machine stitch sides and bottom closed.

  3. Step 3

    Turn pouch right-side out, and use pins to attach 6" ribbon trim along top (as pictured). Hand or machine stitch trim into place.

  4. Step 4

    Attach ends of 20" piece of ribbon trim inside pouch with pins. Hand or machine stitch into place.

  5. Step 5

    Tie eyelash yarn into a bow (as pictured) and hand sew to front of sling.Pouch is done!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a shorter length of trim if you want to carry this on your wrist instead.
  • Measure pouch before sewing to make sure your cell phone will fit inside.
