If you're going to take the time and effort required to ask someone to prom, then you should do it in a romantic fashion. When you think of the prom, romance comes to mind very quickly. You wear flowers on your clothes and often times you go with your significant other; it is a most romantic occasion. Here is how to ask someone to prom romantically.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Confidence
  • A romantic spirit

    Asking Someone to Prom Romantically

  1. Step 1

Find out what makes them happy. There is nothing more romantic than being smart enough to know what makes your prom date happy. The most romantic thing you can do is play to your date's heart. If they have a favorite activity, ask them as part of it. If they have a favorite color, use it. The most romantic way of asking someone to the prom is doing something that makes your partner happy. It's that simple.

  2. Step 2

Hide your proposal. Another great way to make your request romantic is to hide it. Let your significant other stumble upon your request on their own. This might mean putting a secret note in a book or on their bed. The point is that you let them find your proposal by themselves. Maybe you are sitting there beside them when they find your secret request or maybe you are simply waiting by the phone, expecting to hear from them the instant they find out. Either way, it works.Don't forget to mold this idea to the person you are asking, so the secret medium is something that is special to them.

  3. Step 3

Make it artistic. One of the most romantic things you can do is write a song to ask someone to prom. Everybody loves having a song sung to them; it is instant romance when the first note is sung. If you can play the guitar or the piano, even better. That will really add a nice element to your song and will also show how hard you worked in preparing your proposal. It is probably better if the song has some of those traditional romantic features. This means, make it slow and soothing and, of course, the more you can mold it to your partner and her interests, the better it will be.

  4. Step 4

Do something in public. It sounds strange at face value, but involving others and doing something in public is incredibly romantic. When you think romance, don't just think one-on-one. Everyone around you will instantly know what is happening and they will turn and watch. They will love what you are doing and love being a part of your special request. Your partner will also find it romantic and will likely be impressed that you found the strength to ask him or her in front of others. It is an incredibly confident move but, in the end, it is one of the most fun ways to ask. And if you play your cards right, you might even get an ovation when you finish.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you are trying to ask someone romantically, the key term is romance. Think romantically, think love, think about the other person.
  • Go slow. Don't rush a romantic proposal. Take your time and it will all turn out for the better.
  • Overdo everything. If you aren't sure about something, go overboard rather than underboard. Not sure about how many flowers to use? Get more. You won't be disappointed.
  • Romantic prom proposals should really only be done if you are very sure what the answer is going to be. It would be a real shame to do something in public, for example, and then have your potential date reject you. So be careful and be smart.
