How to Make a Captain and Coke

The Captain and Coke is a ubiquitous American cocktail that is, essentially, one particular variation on the Rum and Soda, or Rum and Coke. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum gives the drink its familiar vanilla flavors and transforms ordinary Coca-Cola into a refreshing adult beverage. Here's how to make your own Captain and Coke:

Things You'll Need:

• 2 oz. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
• 10 oz. Coca-Cola
• 1 Slice of Lime (optional garnish)
• Ice
• Pint Glass

Making a Captain and Coke

1. Fill the pint glass 1/3 full of ice.

2. Add the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum to the pint glass.

3. Fill the pint glass to the top by adding the Coke.

4. Stir the ingredients thoroughly to make sure that the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and the Coke are mixed completely.

5. Garnish by adding a slice of lime to the rim of the pint glass, if desired.

6. Serve immediately.

• For a more powerful vanilla flavor try using Captain Morgan Private Stock rum instead of the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum.
• You can use other brands of rum to make a Rum and Coke, but the resulting cocktail can only truly be called a Captain and Coke if the rum used is in fact Captain Morgan.
