Things You'll Need:
- Quick drying nail polish
- Tissue
- Favorite movie
- Nail polish remover
-
Step 1
Choose a subtle nail polish color for your toddler's fingernails. The best colors include light pink and peach. There are two reasons for this. First of all, the colors are more appropriate for young children, and second, a messy nail polish job is far less noticeable.
-
Step 2
Pop in your child's favorite movie. Unlike clipping your toddler's fingernails, you probably won't have trouble convincing her to get her nails polished. The movie still acts as a distraction, however, because it helps to stop her from putting her hands all over wet nail polish.
-
Step 3
Show your child how to lie her hands flat on the table with her fingers spread. This makes it easier for you to paint each individual fingernail while allowing each ample room to dry.
-
Step 4
Unscrew the lid on the nail polish and pull out the brush applicator. Scrape excess polish back into the bottle by touching the brush to the side. Gently cover the thumbnail of one of her hands with the nail polish.
-
Step 5
Work your way to each fingernail. Once you are done, the quick drying polish should already be dry. Although it would be fine for your child to play, you should probably have her let her hands sit still for about 5 more minutes. This is where the movie is really useful.
