Things You'll Need:
- Base Coat (sometimes the top coat can be used for both)
- Polish
- Top Coat
- Nail Polish Remover
- Nail File/Emery Board
- Nail Clippers
- Cuticle Softener
- Orange Stick
- Toe Spacers
- Pumice Stone or Foot Scrub
- Foot File
- Cotton Balls and Q-tips
-
Step 1
1. Remove your old polish with nail polish remover and a cotton ball. If you need to get into the little crevices around your cuticles then dip a Q-tip in some remover.
-
Step 2
2. Fill a small pan with warm water. Add some refreshing foot soak-which is pretty much available at any drugstore-or some scented bubble bath will do. Soak your toes for about 5 to 10 minutes, so relax!
-
Step 3
3. Set the soak aside, and dry your feet with a nice soft towel. Using nail clippers, clip toenails straight across. Then, if needed, carefully, clip toenail corners at a 45-degree angle. (This is to prevent ingrown toenails, an ingrown toenail is when the nail curves into the skin, and becomes embedded). Take a nail file/emery board and carefully shape the nail if preferred, after clipping.
-
Step 4
Apply a small amount of cuticle softener on the cuticles, let soak for 5 minutes. Then, GENTLY push down with orange stick.
-
Step 5
Smooth things out with a pumice foot scrub, or grab a foot file and get to work! Scrub the soles, heels, and edges of your feet, until they are nice and smooth. Then put your feet back in the soak to rinse everything off.
-
Step 6
Dry your feet thoroughly, then follow up with lots of moisturizer, giving yourself a nice foot massage.
-
Step 7
Get your toes ready for coloring by dipping a cotton ball in remover to get any moisturizer off of your toenails. Next, use the toe separator to open up your toes.
-
Step 8
Polish time! A base coat, two layers of color, and a top coat should do it. Let toenails dry in between coats. Mess-up? Dip a Q-tip in some remover and carefully take off mistakes.
