How to Make a Homemade Rib Rub for the Barbeque

The grilling season is just around the corner and it is time to take out that grill, clean it and prepare for the summer. Family and friends will soon be gathering for cookouts and picnics. Here is a tasty simple recipe for making your own rib rub from spices for your ribs and other meats. You can easily make extra and store this rib rub in a ziploc bag. It is easy to make in advance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 T Kosher salt
  • 1 T granulated sugar
  • 1 T dark brown sugar
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1 T ground cumin
  • 1 T pepper
  • 2 T sweet paprika
  • 1 T powder garlic
  • 1 T dried grated lemon peel
  • 1 T onion powder
  1. Step 1

    Measure all ingredients into a clean resealabel bag or container and mix well by shaking. You can adjust the ratios or amounts of spices as you see fit, everyone has their own favorite spices and flavors they are looking for it is alright to experiment.

    Rub the spice mix into spareribs 3 to 24 hours prior to grilling.

    Grill your ribs as usual. You can use just the rib rub; or use the rib rub as a base and add your favorite barbecue sauce just prior to removing from grill. Enjoy juicy savory ribs this summer.
