How to make a rubber band rifle

Rubber band guns are cheap and easy to make. There are different types of rubber band guns out there. Just by using stuff out of your shed or garage you can make a cool homemade toy. Now here is how to make a rubber band rifle.

Things You'll Need:

• 1 Piece of Wood or Plywood 30in. or arm legnth and ½ inch thick
• 2 Finishing nails
• 1 small bag ofrubber bands
• 1 Hammer
• 1 Cloths Pin
• 1 Pencil
• 1 Sanding File
• 1 Medium size Sand Paper (hand size)

1. Do the measurements, you want the rifle to be at least 30 inches long (if you prefer you can add more length). Your butt end (the part that goes on your shoulder) should be about 5 ½ to 6 inches. The barrel is 3 inches long.

2. With the pencil and measuring tape make marks on the wood to show where you should cut. Using the jigsaw cut out the shape of the rifle. Now sand it down until the splinters are gone.

3. Adding cloths pin you can do two ways. Take a rubber and double wrap it and start from the end of the of the barrel. Now slide it all the way to where you want to add the cloths pin on the barrel. It should be about where the barrel ends and the butt-end begins. You’re going to slide the double rubber band on the inside mouth of the clothes pin (while it is attached to the gun). Put it as close to the metal spring as you can, but not touching, so the second groove on the cloths pin. Add at least 2 double wrapped rubber bands *add more if needed*. It is important that the cloths pin stay in place. Or if you don’t want to use rubber bands you can just nail the bottom part the cloths pin using the hammer and finishing nails to the gun.

4. Then using the file add groove to the barrels end. This is what is going to hold the rubber band so it doesn’t snap in your face.

5. Firing and loading: Stretch rubber band from the groove to the inside of the clothes pins mouth (the first groove on the clothes pin). Be sure to test it before you play with the rubber band gun. Finally aim the rubber band rifle and squeeze the cloths pin open.

Tips & Warnings

• You can add a second clothes pin for another rubber band to the bottom of the barrel. Add a second groove if a second clothes pin is added.
• Shooting someone may seriously hurt or injury someone so be careful. Not sanding the wood may cause splinters.
