Almost everyone loves pizza and this variation is just the right size for an after school snack or party fare. Although it looks fattening, it's actually lower in fat and calories than a lot of real pizzas because of the low fat cheeses and the option of using lean meat. Everyone will love this special treat, wanting it again and again.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 ounces lean ground beef
  • 6 bagels
  • 1 14 ounce jar or can of pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 4 ounce can of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 4 ounce can of chopped black olives
  • 3/4 cup low fat shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup low fat cheddar cheese

    Pizza Bagels

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Add beef to hot frying pan and cook until browned and separated.

  2. Step 2

Use a slotted spoon and take the beef out of the frying pan and let drain using paper towel. Get out your baking sheet and place the bagel halves on it with the cut side up. Do not grease the baking sheet.

  3. Step 3

Spread the pizza sauce onto the bagels using a butter knife and then sprinkle the cooked ground beef over it. Then put a layer of onions, then mushrooms, and olives on top of the meat.

  4. Step 4

In bowl mix the mozzarella cheese with the cheddar cheese. Sprinkle the cheeses over the top of the bagels and place in oven. Bake until cheese is melted and hot, about 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Green peppers are a great addition to this mini pizza, simply chop them and layer on top of the other vegetables.
  • To remove even more fat from the ground beef, rinse it with water in a colander after cooking.
  • You can substitute the beef with chicken or bacon if desired.
  • Use ground turkey instead of the beef or only use 4 ounces of beef combined with 4 ounces of ground turkey. You can even use ground pork with or instead of the beef, for a more Italian style flavor.
  • Make it vegetarian style by replacing the beef with chopped portabella mushrooms, then omit the canned mushrooms and replace that with chopped green peppers.
