If you like to listen to music or talk radio while you work, and it is allowed, then XM has just the thing for you. They have devised a system for you to listen online, without the need of a special receiver, equipment or antenna.

From Quick Guide: Satellite and Internet Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • XM radio subscription
  • Internet
  • Computer
  • Speakers
  1. Step 1

Type in www.xmradio.com in your web browser. Enter your username and password or register (if using for the first time) on the left hand side of your screen.

  2. Step 2

Sign up for an XM radio account online subscription if you do not already any XM services. They offer trial periods to see if you like it.

  3. Step 3

Click the "Listen Now" box for the colorful list of stations to appear. Song and album information or show host is displayed in a box at the top of your screen. Your browser will open up a new window for the XM radio player.

  4. Step 4

Click on the station you would like to listen to. You can click the "What's on" tab in the middle if you are unsure. This gives you an updated list of each song or program currently broadcasting.

  5. Step 5

Type in a station number in the "Quick Tune" box if you already know what station you would like to hear.

  6. Step 6

Adjust the volume on your speakers or slide the bar left or right on the top. You will need to slide the bar for each song, so it is probably just easier to adjust your individual speaker volume.

  7. Step 7

Click the column on the left side of the screen if you would like to search for a song, show or program by category.

  8. Step 8

Click "My Presets" to set quick access to your favorite stations. Type in the number and the station will appear in the corresponding line. You can go back to the "XM channels" to get the station number if you are unsure. You can have up to eight stations.

  9. Step 9

Click the "x" at the end of the line to delete a station from "My Presets". You can then fill in a new station number or leave it empty.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have DirecTV Satellite TV you will also be able to get XM channels starting with channel 800 and progressing up from there.
  • Not all XM stations appear online and you will gain some channels that cannot be picked up with a receiver.
  • XL by a station indicates "Explicit Lyrics" and should be used with caution around children.
  • Make sure you cancel by the last day of the free trial period if you decide not to pursue a subscription.
