Matching Barbie Doll pillow and throw pillow with coordinating Barbie Doll Afghan

For the little girl who loves playing with Barbie Dolls one of a kind accessories are the best. A crocheted pillow for Barbie to rest her head on and a throw pillow to accessorize will put a smile on the little girls face (and help keep Barbie from getting a kink in her neck). Here’s how you make the pillows, add a matching Afghan to make the set complete.

Instructions

  1. Crocheted Barbie Doll pillows and thow pillows

    • 1
A Barbie Doll pillow is a rectangle before folding and a square when folded.

A general knowledge of crocheting is required to make this pillow, for instructions please see the e-How, “How to Crochet Instructions- start any crochet project.”Choose a soft light-weight yarn in the color of your choice and chain 25 or until the chain, when folded, extends slightly on both sides when placed under the dolls head. Counting the chain as the first row single stitch seven to ten rows or until the pillow resembles a flat pillow or a pillow case.

    • 2
Insert hook into stitches on each side and crochet as a normal stitch to close.

Fold the piece in half and close by inserting crochet hook into stitches now on both sides of the work. Wrap yarn around the hook and pull it through, the same as with a single stitch. You will have two stitches on hook, wrap yarn around the hook and pull it through both of the stitches on the crochet hook.

    • 3
Leave one side open to put stuffing in.

Repeat until only one side is left open. Finish by cutting yarn, remove crochet hook and insert end of yarn into stitch and pull through to create a knot.

    • 4
      Turn inside out

Turn the pillow inside out, where the loose ends of yarn are now on the inside.

    • 5
Insert enough stuffing so the pillow resembles a miniature pillow.

Insert stuffing through the open side. Fluff the pillow until it looks like a pillow.

    • 6
      Closing and finishing the pillow.

Wrap yarn around hook as if starting a chain, then insert crotchet hook through both stitches on the open side. Continue until side is closed, cut yarn and finish.

Tips & Warnings

  • Allow the child to pick out the color of the pillow.

  • If the pillow is going to be a surprise, find out the child’s favorite color or use a color that coordinates with the child’s other Barbie Doll accessories.

  • Make a matching or complementary Afghan for the Barbie Doll to go with the pillow.

  • Make throw pillows by reducing the number in chain and the amount of rows.
