How to Create the Windows Knot Dimple

The Windsor knot is a traditional tie knot that most men can wear to work or for a special occasion. This knot is larger than other types of knots and will create a larger dimple. The dimple can be found just underneath the knot and is crucial when you want to create a professional, polished look.

    How to Create a Windsor Knot Dimple

  1. Step 1

    Begin by lifting the collar of your shirt. You can use a mirror if you want to monitor your progress.

  2. Step 2

    Place the tie around your neck. Leave about 12 inches on the wide side.

  3. Step 3

    Cross the wide side over the narrow side to create an opening.

  4. Step 4

    Take the wide side and slip it through the opening from behind.

  5. Step 5

    Cross the wide side over the narrow side again. Move the wide side to the left.

  6. Step 6

    Take the wide side and cross to the right.

  7. Step 7

    Go back through the opening.

  8. Step 8

    There should now be a second opening. The wide side should go through this opening.

  9. Step 9

    To create the perfect dimple, take the loose knot you've created and squeeze it toward your neck. Make sure the dimple and the knot are straight.
