Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- Adobe Creative Suite (if you have access to it)
-
Step 1
If you don't have a logo or idea for your card, brainstorm some ideas out on paper.
-
Step 2
Decide what you want it to say, where your name, logo, etc. will appear on the card, what information you will have, will it be color or B/W, and will it have anything on the other side.
-
Step 3
Now design it officially. You can do this by using Adobe Illustrator, a cinch when you use their pre-built in business card templates.
-
Step 4
If you don't have Illustrator, google "build a business card tools," and you will find many free tools to use.
-
Step 5
Or, if you like, find a company to help you. Most companies that print business cards also allow you to use their online services to create one, usually for a nominal fee. You can find these online as well by searching for "business card printers", or by following the links below.
-
Step 6
Find your printer. While local stores may print business cards, usually buying them from online printers is the less expensive route to go, even when you factor in shipping.
-
Step 7
Upload your file. If you didn't use them to design your card, you will need to upload your business card file which you created in Illustrator (the file ending in .ai). Follow the printing companies step-by-step procedures to do so. If something goes wrong, they will tell you.
-
Step 8
Wait. After you have uploaded it, it usually takes a couple business days for them to verify the order, a few more after that to print it, then a few more after that to ship it. So if you have the time to wait, it will save you money.
