If you are in a community play and have to do your own makeup, you can easily shadow your own mouth. Read on to learn how to shadow the mouth with makeup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small makeup brush
  • Brown/black makeup (or dark brown eyeliner)
  • Light-colored foundation

How to Shadow the Mouth with Makeup

  1. Step 1

Apply foundation on your face. If you want a pale look, choose a foundation that is much lighter than your normal skin tone. Choosing a paler foundation will help create an aged look.

  2. Step 2

Make a sharp line with your makeup brush and brown makeup, from the outside of your nostril to the corner of your mouth. Repeat this line on both sides of your mouth.

  3. Step 3

Shadow the indentation from the middle of your nose down to your lips with your brush and brown makeup. You can also trace the wrinkles or cracks near your lips with your brush.

  4. Step 4

Draw a horizontal line under your mouth, about halfway between your mouth and the tip of your chin. You can round it down on the edges toward the chin.

  5. Step 5

Use a clean cloth to wipe the excess makeup off your brush when you have finished shadowing the mouth with makeup.

  6. Step 6

Blend your lines out with your clean brush. Use little brush strokes and lighten the lines you have made. You are dragging them out a tiny bit.

  7. Step 7

Smooth out any spots with your finger, so the mouth area looks as if it has aged but still appears somewhat smooth and natural, especially under stage lighting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use makeup that is about three to four times darker than the shade of your base.
