There are so many decisions to be made when planning a wedding including your choice of make-up. Here is how to choose the right make-up artist for your special day.

Instructions

    Get Referrals

  1. Step 1

Ask for referrals. Friends and family members who have been recently married may have some good suggestions. If you are getting married at a distant location, be sure to confirm that the make-up artist will be willing to travel.

  2. Step 2

Locate make-up artists at your wedding site: If you are having a destination wedding of any sort, ask one of your bridesmaids to research make-up artists in the area for you. If you have a wedding planner, then ask her for a referral. Make appointments at your top contenders for trial make-up sessions.

  3. Step 3

Take photos of your make-up after your trial makeup sessions. Show them to your bridesmaids to get a consensus on whom to hire.

  4. Step 4

Make an appointment for the day of your wedding. Be sure to leave plenty of time before the ceremony.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a friend who excels in make-up application ask her to do your make up for the wedding. Be sure to do a trial session and, if she doesn't want payment, purchase a nice thank you gift for your friend in exchange for her services.
