How to make Asian Lettuce Wraps

Spicy flavors, lots of texture and a bit of crunch make these Asian beef lettuce wraps a mouth watering light meal. Things You'll Need

  • 1 lb lean Ground Beef
  • • 1 tbsp. Wok oil
  • • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • • 2 Minced Garlic Cloves
  • • 1 tbsp. Light Soy Sauce
  • • 1/4 cup Hoisin Sauce
  • • 1 tbsp. Ground Ginger
  • • 1 tbsp. Light Rice Wine Vinegar
  • • 1 tbsp. Chili-Garlic Sauce
  • • 8 oz. Chopped Water Chestnuts
  • • 2 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • • 16 Butter Lettuce Leaves

Instructions

      Rinse, drain and dry lettuce leaves. Place in the refrigerator for one hour so they will be stay crisp before serving.

      Heat oil in a wok or skillet. Add the ground beef and cook over medium high heat until done. Drain meat, and set aside.

      Combine chopped onions, garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, rice wine vinegar, and chili-garlic sauce in the same wok. Stir-fry until the onions are done.

      Add chopped water chestnuts, ground beef and sesame oil to wok, stirring until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

      Place meat filling in the center of a large serving platter and arrange lettuce leaves around the edges of the plate. Allow each guest to spoon the filling into a lettuce leaf and wrap.

  • If you are having trouble finding certain ingredients, go to your nearest Asian grocery.
