Things You'll Need:
- Digital Photos
- Photo Editing Software (free with most cameras)
- Internet Access
- Basic Printer
-
Step 1
Choose Your Sites ~ Perform an online search for stock photography banks such as Shutterstock.com or Shutterpoint.com. Review the terms of service for each site to determine which sites you want to work with. Also, review the submission guidelines for each site to ensure you can format your submissions accordingly.
-
Step 2
Register ~ Open a seller’s account at each of the sites you have selected.
-
Step 3
Select Your Photos ~ Review own digital photos. Select the photos you feel have the best composition. Also consider the photo’s clarity. Most photo banks require a minimum size and number of pixels. Does your photo meet the minimum requirements?
-
Step 4
Get Permission ~ Before selling images of people you must acquire written permission from each person to do so. “Model Release Forms” can easily be found with a quick internet search. If you are uncomfortable or unable to request permission, you may wish to start with images of your own children.
-
Step 5
Edit ~ Resize and reformat your photos in accordance with the submission guidelines for each site you will submit to. Most free photo editing programs included with digital camera purchases are capable of performing this. If unsure how to proceed, review the software instructions.
-
Step 6
Submit ~ Use the online submission form provided by each photography website to transfer your images.

on 7/2/2009 There are quite a few photo sites now that will pay but like anything else there is a lot of competition too. I am going to try iStock but don't have results yet.
