You have your white carpets cleaned for the party. First event of the evening? You drop an entire glass of red wine onto newly cleaned carpets and yourself. Thank goodness the kids are out of earshot...

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Soft rags/towels (3)
  • Oxy-clean
  • Dual action spray-n-wash (the pink and white colored bottle with 2 spouts)
  • 2 cups and small bucket

Step1
Put half scoop (or about 1/4 cup) of oxy-clean into the cup. Add enough of the dual action spray and wash to fully dissolve all of the oxy-clean. All of the oxy-clean must be dissolved, especially the blue crystals. Adding a little water is okay as well- maybe a few tablespoons. Consistency should be like runny toothpaste.
Step2
With the soft cloth, carefully, gently dab the oxy paste onto the stain in a thin layer- Like pressing a light frosting onto the stain. Do not scrub--- press gently.
Step3
Treat all stained areas in this manner, and let sit. While sitting, get another cup of cool water and fresh soft rag.
Step4
After about 5 minutes, take the fresh rag, dip it in water and dab off the paste from carpet. Blot firmly- do not rub or scrub. Blot in an up and down manner. Stain will come up slowly.
Step5
Repeat application of oxy-paste, rinsing, and use a third towel to dry area if necessary.
Step6
Be patient. Oxy/spray and wash may take some time to work into area.
Step7
If you have a stained article of clothing, after initial application of oxy paste, let stand for 10 minutes and place the stained clothing into a bucket of cool water- dissolving more oxy/spray and wash paste to water. Agitate gently with your fingers

Tips & Warnings

  • Be Patient
  • Dab and Blot, Don't Rub and Scrub
  • Works on a variety of difficult stains
  • Make sure that all of the oxy crystals are dissolved
  • Agitate gently with fingertips if necessary
  • Test fabric to make sure it is color safe and does not bleed.
  • Works best on new stains.

on 6/28/2008 This is great info - thank you. If you are out of Oxy-Clean and Spray-N-Wash try pouring salt directly on the red wine splash. *****
