How to Get Out Red Wine & Other Tricky Stains
Remove red wine stains- even from difficult fabrics. You have your white carpets cleaned for the party. First event of the evening? You drop an entire glass of red wine onto newly cleaned carpets and yourself. Thank goodness the kids are out of earshot...
- Difficulty:
- Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need
- Soft rags/towels (3)
- Oxy-clean
- Dual action spray-n-wash (the pink and white colored bottle with 2 spouts)
- 2 cups and small bucket
-
-
1
Put half scoop (or about 1/4 cup) of oxy-clean into the cup. Add enough of the dual action spray and wash to fully dissolve all of the oxy-clean. All of the oxy-clean must be dissolved, especially the blue crystals. Adding a little water is okay as well- maybe a few tablespoons. Consistency should be like runny toothpaste.
-
2
With the soft cloth, carefully, gently dab the oxy paste onto the stain in a thin layer- Like pressing a light frosting onto the stain. Do not scrub--- press gently.
-
3
Treat all stained areas in this manner, and let sit. While sitting, get another cup of cool water and fresh soft rag.
-
4
After about 5 minutes, take the fresh rag, dip it in water and dab off the paste from carpet. Blot firmly- do not rub or scrub. Blot in an up and down manner. Stain will come up slowly.
-
5
Repeat application of oxy-paste, rinsing, and use a third towel to dry area if necessary.
-
6
Be patient. Oxy/spray and wash may take some time to work into area.
-
7
If you have a stained article of clothing, after initial application of oxy paste, let stand for 10 minutes and place the stained clothing into a bucket of cool water- dissolving more oxy/spray and wash paste to water. Agitate gently with your fingers
