How to Get a Purity Ring

Purity Rings are a symbol of Abstinence worn on the left ring finger in place of a wedding band. They are worn by people of all ages, though have recently come into popularity with young adults between the age of 13-21. For most who wear one, a purity ring is a promise to wait for 'real love within the context of marriage', rather than expressions of physical attraction which are seen as temporary.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Get the facts. Talk to your church, or do external research. Purity rings are largely a faith-based initiative of such organizations as "The Silver Ring Thing". Even if your church does not sell the rings, they may be able to put you in contact with a similar organization that does. Find out if your pastor supports the idea, and if they would be willing to counsel you before you take a pledge. Chastity is a serious decision, that should be discussed and given due consideration.
Step2
Talk it out:. If the decision is personal and not a religious one, still seek guidance and support from outside sources. There are a number of abstinence websites (a few are listed below) where you can discuss your reasons for deciding on chastity. This is a good thing to discuss with close friends and family, as they will be your support network once you have made your pledge. If you would rather keep your inquiries private, you may want to look for a non-denominational counselor or other qualified personnel so that you can discuss your reasoning and ensure that a chastity pledge is what is right for you.
Step3
Do not just hand your child the ring and expect them to take the vow. If they are old enough to be concerned about sexuality, they are old enough to discuss chastity like an adult. Give them access to resources such as counselors and abstinence forums. Let them take part in the decision, and the ring-choosing.
Step4
Find the right ring. Look online to decide the type of ring you would like. There are a number of websites that specialize in such jewelry, and also have support such as FAQ sheets and forums where you can discuss your questions about celibacy.
