Things You'll Need:
- Liquid or pencil eyeliner of your choice
- Eyeliner pencil sharpener (if using a pencil)
- Liquid make-up remover
- Q-tips
- Concealer
-
Step 1
Purchase liquid eyeliner or an eyeliner pencil. It doesn't have to be expensive but you don't want it to smudge so bear in mind that the cheaper brands tend to smear more easily. If you pick an eyeliner color that is too light, your eyes will seem to "disappear." A shade that is too dark will make you look scary. If your hair is currently blond or red, choose a warm brown color. If your hair is medium brown, choose a cooler brown and if you hair is dark brown or black, choose black. Make sure it doesn't have a blueish tone -- this will make you look older and unnatural.
-
Step 2
Sharpen your eyeliner pencil to a fine point. It is important to keep your eyeliner pencil sharpened, or you will not be able to achieve crisp, accentuated lines and shadows. If you are using a liquid eyeliner, make sure to purchase one with a very fine tip.
-
Step 3
Apply a thin line of eyeliner on your upper eyelid just above the eyelashes. Continue drawing the line as close as possible to your lashes and toward the outside corner, ending with a slight upwards tilt.
-
Step 4
Reapply the eyeliner on the same area that you just lined and apply slightly thicker lines the farther you get to the upper outer corner. You want to achieve a "cat eye" look and this creates this illusion.
-
Step 5
Blink your eyes several times to smudge the eyeliner a bit. Use your finger, a q-tip soaked with makeup remover, attachable eyeliner pencil eraser or concealer to remove or cover up smudges.
-
Step 6
Repeat the process on your other eye.
