Step 1
Purchase a lean cut of hamburger meat. To build the ultimate cheeseburger, you need to get a lean 93 percent package of meat. The meat should be nice and red, and make sure that you buy enough for everyone. You will get about four patties per pound of 93 percent lean meat. Take your time with this step and get the best quality of meat possible.
-
Step 2
Check to be sure that you have all the produce and seasonings for your ultimate cheeseburger. First you will need a fresh bulb of garlic, as well as a head of Romaine lettuce. Also purchase a Vidalia onion, and a ripe vineyard tomato. For the seasonings in your ultimate cheeseburger, you will need some Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper. Take special care to ensure that these ingredients are fresh to maximize the flavor in your ultimate cheeseburger.
-
Step 3
Consider all of the options with cheese. To build the ultimate cheeseburger, you need to pick a flavor of cheese that you like. Some like American, some like Swiss. For my taste, I build my ultimate cheeseburger with Monterey Jack cheese that is fresh from the deli.
-
Step 4
Buy your buns and condiments. When you purchase your cheeseburger buns, you be sure to check the dates and make sure they are fresh. If you like, buy deli bread for your buns. Personally, I like regular sesame seed buns. Additionally, you need to be sure to have all the favorite condiments that people like on their cheeseburger. These include mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, and occasionally some hot sauce.
-
Step 1
Remember that the following information is based on cooking one pound of hamburger. If you are making more than four patties, then you will need to adjust your measurements accordingly.
-
Step 2
Preheat and prepare your grill. Assuming you are using a gas grill, this is no big deal, but be sure to clean the grill surface. Nothing is worse for your ultimate cheeseburger than a dirty grill.
-
Step 3
Remove the hamburger meat from the package and put it into a large mixing bowl. Add in one half of a teaspoon of salt as well as a teaspoon of pepper. Mix well.
-
Step 4
Add in three minced cloves of garlic. Make sure that you mince the garlic well. Then add four dashes of Worcestershire sauce to the mix. You may optionally add in up to four dashes of hot sauce to the mixture if you want some added spice. Mix well.
-
Step 5
Take out a tennis ball size portion of the meat and round it into a ball. Then you smash it down into a patty and round the edges with your thumbs. This will help the meat keep its form while grilling. The less chunks falling into the grill the better. Place the patties on a clean plate to take to the grill. Have a spare plate ready to place the cooked burgers on to avoid disease.
-
Step 6
Grill your hamburger to taste. The ultimate cheeseburger in my house will be cooked medium well. Some like it less cooked, but to me it is too dangerous. I like mine done! Do not flip your burger more than once and never smash the burger on the grill with your spatula. This will help to keep the juices inside the burger where they belong. Once your burger is done, then add the cheese and leave it on just long enough to melt.
-
Step 1
Toast your ultimate cheeseburger buns before building the cheeseburger. This adds a nice touch to your ultimate cheeseburger. You may also put them on the grill as long as you watch them carefully as they will burn quickly.
-
Step 2
Place your cheeseburger patty on the bottom half of the bun. Then add a thinly sliced vidalia onion to the top of the cheeseburger. Add tomato and lettuce to your ultimate cheeseburger as well.
-
Step 3
Mix up your mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard in a small mix bowl to get a nice even taste. Many people add these individually, and it liquefies the cheeseburger. By mixing them beforehand, you can spread a nice even layer.
-
Step 4
Put that ultimate cheeseburger into your mouth and taste the explosion of flavors!

on 11/21/2009 The tastiest burgers have more fat than 7 percent, unfortunately. 85 percent is the way to go. Not only does it taste better, but it hold together better on the grill while cooking.
