1. If you need parts to fix your bike, ask family, friends and neighbors if they have any of the items you need. Craigslist.org is a good site to post wanted ads and to look for good deals.

2. Spread a newspaper on the ground under your bike and give your bike a new coat of paint. Make sure to use a paint that will provide a new shine and not look dull.

3. For added pizzaz, use multiple paint colors on your bike. Tape over parts of the bike to prevent one coat of paint from covering another. Turn these areas into shapes by creatively placing the tape where you want.

4. If your seat is worn, get some extra fabric scraps and sew them around the seat. For added comfort ,sew in some foam rubber. Some fabric stores will give away scraps for free.

5. Add accessories as desired. Tassles, stickers, a horn or beads around your spokes will make it even more special.

6. Give your bike a name. With permanent markers or paint, write it on the bike somewhere. Then take a picture of your new bike and you are ready to go!
