How to Glue Paper on a Barometer

Making a homemade barometer is fun for kids of all ages. You can use a simple glass jar, string, balloon and straw. But the best part is you can decorate it with paper. Follow the simple steps below on how to glue paper on a barometer.

Things You'll Need:

  • Jar for the barometer
  • Construction paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Wrapping paper
  • Printer paper
  • White school glue or craft glue

    How to Glue Paper on a Barometer

  1. Step 1

    Decide how you want to decorate your barometer. Decide your theme, if you will have pictures of weather or of natural scenes. Perhaps you prefer images from a a hobby such as sports or horses.

  2. Step 2

    Cut pictures or designs out of paper to go with your planned theme. You can use any kind of paper, such as tissue, construction, wrapping or printer paper. The more colorful the paper, the more colorful your barometer will be.

  3. Step 3

    Glue the cut-outs on to the jar with regular school glue or craft glue. Remember, you may be able to see the glue when it dries on the jar, so be careful not to use too much.

  4. Step 4

    Cover the jar as much or as little as you want. It will not affect the way the barometer works if most of the glass is covered with paper.

Tips & Warnings
  • To make your barometer even more decorative, use a colorful balloon to stretch across the top of the jar.
