There have been songs written about it and holidays dedicated to drinking it; the Mexican liquor tequila is the national drink of Mexico and has been around since the 16th century. Tequila lovers often enjoy this unique liquor in a Margarita or a Tequila Sunrise but many prefer to take it straight with a little help from their friends salt and lime. • Shot glass
• Salt
• Lemon or Lime

How to Take a Tequila Shot

1. Prepare the necessities. Cut a lemon or lime wedge for every person that will be enjoying the shot. Also make sure that you have a salt shaker close by.

2. Fill a shot glass with tequila. A gold, silver or mezcal tequila is best for preventing hangovers.

3. Moisten the back of your hand by licking below your index finger. Next pour salt over the moistened area so it lightly sticks to your skin.

4. Lick the salt off your hand to reduce the burn of the tequila and then take the shot of tequila.

5. Immediately bite into the lemon or lime wedge to balance and enhance the flavor of the tequila.
