How to Spray Foam Insulation
Spray foam insulation done as a do it yourself project is not very difficult. It takes about four people to do the project safely. The only thing that might be difficult is drilling the holes in the walls, but otherwise the installation of the spray foam is easy to do and a little fun if you have the right people. There are spray cans to use, but that can become expensive and time consuming. Using the pressure spray system is so much cheaper and faster. Does this Spark an idea?

How to Spray Foam Insulation
-
1
Set up the pressure spray system according to the directions. This system comes with a long hose that reaches to the roof of the house or building. After this is done, measure where the holes need to be made on the outside of the structure. This is usually done every twelve inches. The holes are started at the top of the building. There should be one set of holes on the top level and one set for every level of the building. Use a drill with a large enough drill bit to make the hole large enough for the hose to fit into.

2
Add the foam to the tub on the pressure spray system. After adding the foam to the system, place a ladder by the first top hole and insert the hose so that it is inside the building. The inserted hose amount will depend on how thick the wall is to the structure.

Turn on the pressure spray system and hold the hose in place as the area is filling with foam. The first hole should be timed to see how long it takes for each hole to fill. You will know when the area is full when the foam starts backing out of the hole. After the hole is filled, turn off the power to the system.

4
Move on the remaining top-level holes until compete. Next, move to the next level of holes. Repeat these steps until all holes have been filled.
-
5
Plug the holes. This can be done in different ways. The way you plug the holes will depend on the structure material that was drilled through. Check with your local home building store to see what materials they recommend for plugging the holes.
