An emergency can come in all shapes and sizes as well as levels of panic. By keeping an emergency kit in the car, you can handle any adversity that comes your way while in the car. Place items for emergency kit in a tote box and remember to replace items after use.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic tote
  • Various supplies as needed
  1. Step 1

Medical. Medical "emergencies" can happen anywhere and at any time. Invest in a travel size first aid kit and always refill and replace first aid items. Include a few plastic bags in the tote to use for cases of motion sickness. Complete your medical kit with a travel size bottle of motion sickness medication and pain reliever.

  2. Step 2

Spills. If you have small children, you might want to store an extra shirt for each child. Spills occur nearly everyday while in the car, so be prepared for that situation too. In the tote, keep a stain remover pen or stain remover cloths. With those items, have on hand wet wipes for "sticky situations."

  3. Step 3

Individual needs. If you have a child in diapers, keep an extra diaper or two complete with wipes and diaper rash cream. This can easily be stored in a large zipper storage bag. If you have a long commute each day, keep a small supply of snacks and water bottles in the tote.

  4. Step 4

Flashlight. Keep a flashlight in the vehicle at all times. To avoid being surprised by a dead battery, keep an unopened package of batterties with the flashlight.

  5. Step 5

Comforts of home. If you have the extra room in your vehicle, keep a blanket with your emergency tote. No matter if it is winter or not, your passengers may get cold when you are not, especially on long trips.
