How To Get a Golfer's Autograph

  1. Step 1

Attend a professional golf tournament. You will obviously run into a lot of pro golfers at a tournament. There are tournaments throughout the country, so it's likely at least one will be somewhat near your home.

  2. Step 2

Golf tournaments are typically held Thursday-Sunday. However, Tuesday and/or Wednesday are usually reserved for practice rounds or pro-am events. While it's possible to get an autograph during actual tournament play, you have a much better chance earlier in the week because the golfers aren't competing against each other.

  3. Step 3

Wait for the right moment. Sometimes golfers will sign after each hole of a practice round, but often they prefer to wait until they are finished playing. Approaching a golfer after he or she gets off the 18th green is the best time.

  4. Step 4

Have a program or a hat as well as a pen ready. If you want an autograph, you're going to need something for the golfer to sign. Also, it helps to have your own writing instrument, preferably a sharpie.

  5. Step 5

Be polite. Saying, "Mr. ___, may I please have your autograph?" is the best way to go. Shoving a program and pen in the golfer's face and screaming is not a good idea. If you're courteous and catch the golfer at the right time, there's no reason why you shouldn't get an autograph.
