Create a new audio track in Pro Tools by clicking File - New Track from the main menu. A new track will appear in the edit window.

Click the insert button in your new audio track. A pop-up menu will appear showing you a list of available effects.

Choose an effect from the pop-up menu. You can choose from a large variety of effects including reverb, compression, EQ, delay and many more.

Edit the settings for the effect you selected. After you select the effect from the pop-up menu, a new window will appear displaying all of the available settings for the effect you chose. If you play your audio track while you adjust the settings you can hear the changes in real time.

Click OK. Once you are happy with the settings for your effect, simply click OK. The settings will be saved and your effect will be applied to your track. If you would like to further adjust your effect settings at a later time, just click the effect name from the insert menu. That's it! You now know how to insert an effect in Pro Tools!
