There are plenty of ways to say no to a second date, from passive to aggressive. Read these steps to find the approach right for you.

From Quick Guide: Phone Dating Tutorial
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Try the oldest trick in the book. Don’t answer your phone when they call. It can be hard to say no to a second date, even when you are not too keen on someone. With this approach, just avoid their calls. You don’t have to say “no” and they’ll get the message. Cruel, but effective.

  2. Step 2

Convey that you are not ready for a romantic relationship. Tell the guy or gal what’s going on in your life (without oversharing) if it’s a fear of a relationship that’s holding you back. Try to avoid telling that person you think of them like a brother or sister.

  3. Step 3

If you choose to take the high road (which you should because, after all, people’s feelings are involved) be as clear, honest and direct as possible. If someone has stars in their eyes for you, they are going to hear what they want to. Be polite, but make it clear that you are not interested in dating further. Try not to lead them on with the hope of another date.
