Hold the needle with the knitting in the left hand. With the right hand, loop the yarn around the left hand so the yarn ends up being held between the middle and index fingers of the left hand.

    • 2

Holding the other knitting needle in the right hand, poke the tip of the knitting needle held in the right hand through the loop of knitting on the other needle until the end of the needle appears on the back side of the knitting.

    • 3

Loop the yarn around the tip of the needle and push the needle back through the stitch using the tip of the index finger of the right hand.

    • 4

Slide the stitch off of the needle in the left hand and onto the needle that is held in the right hand. This is called picking up a stitch.

    • 5

Repeat the process until you have the desired number of continental knitting stitches.
