How to Pick Up a Dropped Knitting Stitch

Dropping a stitch while knitting can be one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a knitter. A dropped stitch can throw off the measurements of a knitted piece, or worse, cause the entire piece to unravel into a knotted mess. Picking up a dropped knitting stitch is easy to learn by just following a few simple steps.

Things You'll Need:

• Knitting Needles
• Yarn
• Crochet Hook

Picking Up A Drooped Knitting Stitch

1. Continue knitting until you come back around and are directly over the dropped stitch.

2. Insert the crochet hook into the dropped stitch from the front of the piece of knitting.

3. Using the hook, catch the string of yarn directly above the stitch and pull it through the loop.

4. Release the loop from the crochet hook by gently sliding the hook out of the loop.

5. Slide the loop of the dropped stitch onto the left knitting needle and continue knitting.

• Its important to use the correct size crochet hook. Choose a hook that is large enough to hold the yarn but small enough so as not to create an oversize loop.
