Things You'll Need:
- Pine cone
- String
- Peanut butter
- Birdseed
- Camera
-
Step 1
Go out to the park and gather a bag full of pine cones--the bigger, the better! This can be an afternoon activity in itself.
-
Step 2
Take them home and tie a piece of string around the pine cone. Make the strings different lengths, but long enough to tie to something else.
-
Step 3
Cover the pine cone in peanut butter--the thicker, the better! Your kids will love this part.
-
Step 4
Roll the pine cones in birdseed, or sprinkle the birdseed on--the more, the better!
-
Step 5
Go into your backyard and tie them up anywhere you want (tree branches, swing set, fence, patio roof and so forth).
-
Step 6
Wait. You won't have to wait long. Soon the birds will be flocking to your pine cones to eat the seed. By the next morning you will have birds everywhere--a delight for your kids.
-
Step 7
Have them take pictures of the birds, or film them with the video camera.
