How to Make a Pine Cone Bird Feeder

Want a fun activity to do with your kids? Make a bird feeder!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Pine cone
• String
• Peanut butter
• Birdseed
• Camera

1. Go out to the park and gather a bag full of pine cones--the bigger, the better! This can be an afternoon activity in itself.

2. Take them home and tie a piece of string around the pine cone. Make the strings different lengths, but long enough to tie to something else.

3. Cover the pine cone in peanut butter--the thicker, the better! Your kids will love this part.

4. Roll the pine cones in birdseed, or sprinkle the birdseed on--the more, the better!

5. Go into your backyard and tie them up anywhere you want (tree branches, swing set, fence, patio roof and so forth).

6. Wait. You won't have to wait long. Soon the birds will be flocking to your pine cones to eat the seed. By the next morning you will have birds everywhere--a delight for your kids.

7. Have them take pictures of the birds, or film them with the video camera.
