How to Skip a Rock

Want to show your friends something fun and interesting on your next boat or canoe trip? Here's the quick and easy way on learning how to skip a rock.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to the nearest stream or creek bed and grab some medium-sized, flat rocks. Don't use stones that are paper thin as they have a tendency to skip once and then fly up or separate before they even skip.

  2. Step 2

    Hold the stone between your index finger and thumb.

  3. Step 3

    Keep your arm parallel with the water, wind back and throw the stone across the water as flat as you can.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't throw rocks at your friends; it can cause injury.
