How to Change a Crib Mattress

Often babies will wet themselves and it will leak onto the crib mattress. Changing the crib bedding does not need to be a hassle. Follow these easy steps to change a crib mattress and you will be done before the baby can fully awaken.

Things You'll Need

• 1 clean crib sheet
• 1 clean mattress pad
• 1 crib and crib mattress

Instructions

1. Take the crib mattress out of the crib. To do this you may have to move some of the baby's crib toys out of the way.

2. Remove the wet crib sheet and crib mattress pad from the crib mattress. Place these soiled items into the laundry container so they do not contaminate anything that is clean.

3. Stand the crib mattress up right in front of you. Place one end of the crib mattress pad over the top end of the crib mattress. Flip the crib mattress so that the opposite end of the crib mattress is facing up. Make sure to keep the crib mattress pad in place as you perform this flip. Pull the unattached end of the crib mattress pad over the exposed end of the crib mattress.

4. Your crib mattress now has its crib mattress pad on. Repeat Step 3 with the clean crib sheet.

5. Replace the crib mattress into the crib. Bring any crib toys that needed to be moved back into their original places. Adjust the crib bumpers if you are still using them for your baby.

Tips & Warnings

• Keep a clean crib sheet and crib mattress pad next to the crib to make middle of the night changes even easier.

• If you do not have someone to hold the baby while you change the crib mattress, put the baby in her pack and play for the time being.
