Military men can be quite attractive. There is just something about a man in uniform that makes some women's hearts pound. The truth is, however, that dating a military man can vary widely from one experience to another. One military man might be constantly available while another military man might spend a great portion of time inacessible. You can't expect a military man to be able to drop everything if you need him around.

1. Find a military man to date. If you live near a military installation then it may not be difficult to find plenty of eligible bachelors from within the various ranks of the military by frequenting places near the base or post. You can also utilize the Internet as a tool to meet up with military men. Keep in mind that the men serving in the military are a broad spectrum of men indeed. You can't expect to find one certain type of man in all the men who serve.

2. Be understanding. Military men are on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. If you have a special night planned with your military man and he gets called away suddenly then you need to keep in mind that he isn't doing it on purpose. While some military men will indeed use duty as an excuse to skip out on dates, the vast majority of military men are just as frustrated as their dates are when it comes to missing out on special occasions because duty calls. Complaining, whining, and issuing ultimatums won't change a thing, but it may prompt the ending of your relationship.

3. Don't mock his occupation. Being in the military is so much more than simply doing a job. People who are in the military sacrifice a lot for the civilian population, and sometimes they do it for very little pay or recognition. Your military man probably hears enough badmouthing about the military in the media. He doesn't need to hear it from you too.

4. Don't ask a lot of questions about his job. It's fine to ask about what his job entails and if he likes what he does, but if at any point he tells you that he can't really discuss something then you need to drop the subject right there. Don't attempt to cajole him into telling you more, and don't try to make fun of his secrecy. You should realize that there are some military wives who really don't have a firm grasp on what their husbands do, and sometimes it's simply better that way for everyone involved.

5. Know when your military man isn't telling the truth. Most service members work in jobs they can talk about and don't get called away in the dead of night for a secret mission. While you need to respect your military man's privacy, you should realize when there is more going on. For example, if he returns from a so-called "secret military meeting" half-drunk and smelling like women's perfume, chances are he's lying.

6. Thank him for what he does. Remember that military men and women protect our freedoms every day, and thanking him profusely is not only the right thing to do, but it can also show him just how much you care.
