Despite popular belief, engagement rings are not a Christian tradition. The use of engagement rings and wedding rings is actually a pagan tradition that symbolizes fertility and endless love. However, wearing a ring that contains Christian symbolism is a great way to express your faith.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a reputable jeweler. This may take a lot of searching to find the jeweler and a ring that suits you.

  2. Step 2

Choose a few rings. Keep your options open. This will also give your fiancé a chance to surprise you with one of the rings that you like, instead of only picking one ring and knowing exactly what he is going to get you.

  3. Step 3

Choose a ring with a Christian symbol on it. Common Christian symbols include crosses, barley leaves and fish.

  4. Step 4

Have the rings blessed by your church official. If you truly want the engagement rings to be viewed as Christian by you and your prospective spouse, ask your church official to bless the rings.

  5. Step 5

Purchase the ring. The fiancé traditionally performs this step without the future bride’s knowledge, so he can surprise her with a proposal and a ring. Now the only step left is to actually propose.
