How to Know if Dating is not Christian

Often Christians find it very important, even necessary, to date other Christians. This can be due to social and religious pressures or just a matter of convenience. Dating people who have similar attitudes and beliefs can help reduce undue stress in a relationship.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what you are looking for in a partner and stick to those morals. If you're looking for someone who shares the same ideals, beliefs and Christian values as you, determine what those values are. Christian dating in large part is based on what your believes and ideals are and whether you, your God and your Christian mentors believe is Christian dating.

  2. Step 2

Look for people that fit the description of what you are looking for. If you are looking for a partner that will share the same Christian ideals, beliefs and values as you, then your church may be a good place to start. If you are looking for someone who is different from you, then this may be a bit more challenging and take a bit more work.

  3. Step 3

Read the Bible. It states that you should guard your heart above all other things. The Bible also states that one should not be yoked with unbelievers. This means that you should not surround yourself with people who do not believe in God.

  4. Step 4

Assess the dating situation. If you partner is trying to persuade you to do things that are clearly against your beliefs, then dating the person is probably not Christian.

  5. Step 5

Make a decision after you have taken into account what you want in a partner and how the Bible states a Christian should carry themselves. If your partner is involved in non-Christian acts or if they are trying to persuade you into committing non-Christian acts, then it is probably best to cut ties with that person and look for someone with similar beliefs as you.

  6. Step 6

Look at the list of ideals and values you created for yourself in step one. Compare that list with the kinds of activities you're engaging in in your dating life. This will largely tell you whether you believe your dating life is Christian.
